It’s been a memorable year at Wakey Wheeled Cats. Highlights include our British Champs games against a number of fabulous teams, our demos at the Moon festival in Wakefield in September, growing our membership with two intakes in January and June and our Nightmare Before Christmas themed scrim in November. We also celebrated our 10th birthday in April with a free to view scrim and a big party.
Many thanks to all the volunteers, NSO’s and refs who are all essential to the sport of roller derby and have made all the games happen and to our sponsors JTF Vinyls, Trinity Walk Wakefield, skates.co.uk and TRI-PT Personal training and sports massage for all your support this year.
An exciting new year begins for us in January with our new training plan and our next recruitment drive and open days – if you’ve ever fancied giving roller derby a go this is your chance! Keep an eye on our Facebook for dates or message us to go on the notification list. We will also be returning to another British Champs season with games as far north as Livingston in Scotland.
