Why did you get involved with roller derby?

A lecturer once told me I looked like a derby girl. I didn’t have a clue what that was, so I googled it and found a brand new team were starting up that weekend (Cheshire Hellcats). I figured I’ve learnt to ski – so I don’t mind falling over, I used to play rugby – so I don’t mind hitting people and getting hit, and I used to love skating as a kid! I thought ‘what’s not for me?’ and have never looked back.

The absolutely awesome community we have built – I’ve made some solid gold wizard friends through the team.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a lager drinking, cheese-loving skier and graphic designer. My aims in life are to stroke every dog I see and become a superstar rap battler.

What would you say to someone thinking of starting roller derby?

Just have a go – Come have a roll around. It could be the best thing you ever do!
